Lily Frost
Biography

Canadian singer/songwriter Lily Frost started singing at a Baptist church in a small town in Ontario. She went on to study jazz vocals at Concordia University in Montreal where she was asked by members of the mod group The Gruesomes to sing in a 20’s blues band called The Sheiks who did covers of Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, Ida Cox and Billie Holiday. Her boyfriend’s mod band The Minstrels were touring west and convinced her to move to Vancouver as there was “no snow.” It was there that she founded and fronted a swing-a-billy band called The Colorifics during the swing revival of the 90’s. The Colorifics garnered interest from Arista, Hollywood Records and Sub Pop. Lily was courted and signed as a solo artist to Nettwerk Records at the turn of the millennium and recorded the critically acclaimed “Lunamarium” album (produced by Stefan Sigerson). This landed her several quality film soundtrack placements including one for the album’s single “Who Am I” featured in the Touchstone Pictures’ release “Crazy Beautiful” starring Kirsten Dunst.

In 2002, Lily touched down in Toronto before heading to L.A. (or such was her plan). Instead, she was offered a publishing and recording deal by Aporia Records and met her husband/co-writer/producer José Contreras of the indie rock band By Divine Right. Together they wrote, released and toured seven albums internationally and made two babies until their divorce in 2012. Their work received plenty of placements in shows from “Grey’s Anatomy” to “Workin’ Moms” to commercials for Chevy and many more.

Since then, Lily has released two tasty western/swing cover albums in homage to the late great Ray Condo as well as three more albums which have garnered her much critical acclaim. She also co-wrote the score and theme song to the hit TV show “Being Erica”, which was syndicated in thirty-five countries around the world and garnered a Gemini nomination.

Lily trips down to California, (the land where her heart is), whenever possible and continues to work with producer Stefan Sigerson since their magic remains strong. The newest single “The Medicine” is a collaboration with Lily and Vicious Animals which is the start of a new beginning. It’s a balance of Lily’s soft poetic lyricism with Stefan’s bold and epic production. They are very excited to share this new work.
